04: Episode 3 : Tour in LA - Task
analysis
22 January 2007This week,
the winning team of last episode was treated again. Not only
they got exempt from the task, they also spend their day in
a hotel, having nice meal and massage. I start to wonder, do
they deserve to be treated this way just for winning last
task. Their 2 consecutive winning is overrated if you ask
me. We'll see what happen next week.
But
I started to like the exemption when Arrow was divided into
two. Like I said last week, it seems we're watching Final 7
but we're not. But I like it because I got to know the
contestants better and see their strength and weaknesses or
in another word, their fun and irritating behaviour.
Let's first see what happen in
Aaron's team. He picked second, so he only has 3 members for
his group including himself. But I guess he picked the good
one. Stefani and James. On the other hand, Michelle pick
Tim, Nicole and stuck with Frank. I don't mind much when
Michelle pick Nicole and stuck with Frank, but I wonder why
she take Tim into her team, considering both of them have
some issue as Tim made it clear that he didn't like
Michelle.
Do you notice the background music
when Aaron's team started their task? And compare it with
Michelle's team's background music. It seems like Aaron team
will win from the very beginning. And usually when watching
Apprentice, you kinda figure out which team will win. But I
like it that way. It's pretty hard to see a team which doing
so well in the task and suddenly lost to the other team by
luck.
Aaron team started with a big idea.
When James gave some creative thought about the Laker girls
etc, I knew this team will win, just base on the idea.
However, as the episode running I
don't really think they deserve much to win because of this
idea. And also about the drinks and popcorn.
Why? When I see that the task is
about tourist judgment about their tour on the bus, the game
should be played slightly different. They got a lot of good
stuff, namely the Laker Girls and the food, but they put
everything good early on, and leave nothing special in the
tour. They even give drinks when the passengers go into the
bus.

In my opinion, they should save
something for the middle. How about giving drink halfway in the
journey. I think it will give much impact as the tourists
will remember more. And what a joke when James gave bad
comments about the driver early on, when later he did the
same mistakes. And obviously Stefani was the one to save the
day.
But not much to be saved because
the other team was doing such a lousy job. At first I
thought that Michelle was doing nothing when she keep coming
back and forth about the route. But then I realise that the
route plays a big part in the tour, because if I'm a
tourist, I want to go to some meaningful place, not
to a place where some famous people kill themselves by
overdosing in drug. It's not entertaining for the tourist,
but the reaction of that woman with her daughter (and the
others also) is
priceless.
This team lost because of there is
nothing special along the trip. 'Special' in term of something that
you can't get from an ordinary trip.
I started to think about the
fairness of the task. How much do they get to run a task.
For Aaron's team to spend money to hire Laker Girls and buy
the tourists some refreshment, it seems that they are given
quite a lot amount of money.
And for Michelle's team, didn't they realise that they had a lot of balance in their account
considering they just spent their money for black and white colour banner which should cost less than a Laker Girl.
Didn't they even think about spending those money to buy the
tourists' heart, or in other word, to bribe them for a
better vote? Really, just imagine if they can get some toys
for the kids and some nice souvenir for the parents, (they
should think about it, I'm not in the game, yeah I know that
makes me not really deserve to complain much but who cares?) and give it
10 minutes before those people wrote their assessment, so
that
it's going to boost up the rating for sure.
Second thought, is it worth for
tour company to hire Laker Girls every time they want to run
a tour. Probably not. So, how much of 'practicality' aspect
being considered in this game. Because if it is just for one
tour, one team can make a lot of thing different, but will the
difference stays the same for the other tour?
At the end, Michelle's team lost
and she quit from the game.#
