07: Episode 6 : Task Analysis
20 February 2007Again, I
want to focus my review about the task. And what should they
do to improve. Again, I mention that I ain't really good about
this stuff, but I believe most of Apprentice fans out there
are interested to see from this view, and I just feel like
pointing out this matter.
This week, it's the battle of Surya
and Aimee. I don't care which team will win. But we already
spoilt by 'next time on Apprentice' clip from last episode
when we see Tim and Nicole made out near the swimming pool.
So we know Arrow will win.
This week return to the style of
editing that I hate. Less of game, too much of reward scene.
But I wasn't frustrated of this episode because it is
different in its own way. So, how many time you can see
Apprentice episode turn out to be like The OC? Well, this is
what it's all about.
Don't focus on everyone else except
Tim and Nicole. They was having fun with drawing in the
task, enjoying the surf in their reward, and suddenly Nicole
was caught in a surf accident. Whether she was bitten by
jellyfish or what, I don't know. But she yell later in her
confession, saying the doctor was wrong as she can't see
jellyfish anywhere. Hello, didn't you hear that the doctor
said 'maybe'. Ah, by the time she made her confession, she
forgot everything as she already made out with Tim, that's why.
Back to the task. Basically, the
task is about asking people to sign for a lucky draw. Those
people don't have to pay anything but they might be rewarded
for a vacation.
Kinetic started 'strong' with my
'beloved' Aimee. She was delegating the task 'efficiently'.
On the other side of the world, Arrow was making fun of
Surya. Not that I like Surya, but I don't think that I like
the attitude of the team. Making stupid jokes isn't the way
it should be. But I guess what goes around comes around
(Love the song though, like it when it appear on recent
episode of Ugly Betty:). Last episode, Surya was the one who
was talking nonsense about the strategy, and now he's the
one asking his teammates to give one straight point.
I believe that Surya won't stay
long in this game. Once the team lose, he will be sold out
immediately. And did Arrow really did a good job?
Kinetic lose to Arrow by around 50.
The premise of losing is because of the Hispanic
demographic. And we can see how bad Kinetic's campaign
compare to what Frank did for his team. And Arrow didn't
have to face that ethnicity issue. So, I wonder whether Arrow's
winning is only by luck. Maybe yes, maybe no.
One more time, Arrow was taking
advantage on the existence of the cameraman. Remember when
Frank was getting people to sign up, he was so excited and
he grabbed those girls' hand to bring them to the counter.
Question: if that kind of thing happen to you, won't you
freak out seeing some stranger promising that you may win
something and grab your hand and lead you to somewhere? Yes,
except, if there is a cameraman with his big camera
that
you know they use that kind of camera for tv production.
Kinetic is pathetic. I don't like
Aimee, so I won't say much more about her. She deserved to
be treated that way in the boardroom after what she did last
week (I got too emotional, eh?). But the team itself is
losing something. I am not on Aimee's side but Aimee made a
good point about 'nobody told her'.
We can see from time to time, the
Hispanic people who cannot converse in English was brought up into an
issue. First when Derek being told early in the task. And
then when Heidi also realize about that. But I guess no one
really care to fix it as nobody ever suggested to do
something about it. Is it project manager fault? Yes, as
project manager should be the one who alert about this stuff
and have a backup plan immediately.
But, the others should also play
part in this kind of situation especially when they realize
that they cannot depend on their project manager. From
business perspective (like I know a lot about business, lol),
this team is leading themselves to destruction. Yeah, as a
team. Heidi and the other girl weren't convincing enough in
their promotion around the shopping complex. Even if those
people understand English, at what point make you feel like
going to their booth with that kind of promotion?
With that, they deserve to lose
this week.
